Game Jam for Everyone will start with a brief discussion about the artistic potential of games and general strategies to approach game design. Participants will then have free reign to create a real life, physical game of their choosing. The workshop will conclude with a play session of everyone's games.
Facilitator: Carlos Páez
Abu Dhabi based theater artist and game designer graduated from NYU Abu Dhabi. His work is fluid and interdisciplinary, focusing on discovering new ways for humans to have expressive conversations with each other. Recently, Carlos was the director for The Everywhere Classroom: After the Mountain Wildfires, a participatory theater piece presented at Expo 2020 that blended elements of choreography, videogame, and card game design, where the outcome of the narrative was entirely determined by the audience-participants' actions. Carlos is currently pursuing a M.Ed. in Advanced Teaching at University of the People and is an artist in residence at the NYUAD Art Center's Numoo program.
